Why is my BMW X1 engine making a rattling noise?

I've noticed that my BMW X1's engine is making a rattling noise when I accelerate. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It's possible that your BMW X1's engine is running low on oil. Check the oil level and top it up if necessary.
