I recently purchased a BMW X1 and have noticed a strange noise when I turn the wheel. The noise seems to be coming from the steering column and I'm not sure what could be causing it. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
ReplyHi Sandra, it's possible that the noise is being caused by a worn out power steering pump or a faulty steering rack. I recommend taking your BMW to a certified mechanic for a thorough inspection and possible repairs.
I had a similar issue with my BMW X1 and it turned out to be a loose steering belt. I tightened it and the noise went away. You may want to check that before taking it to a mechanic.
It could also be an issue with the steering column itself. I suggest having a mechanic check for any loose or damaged components in that area.
