Why is my BMW X1 making a strange sound while accelerating?

I recently noticed that my BMW X1 is making a strange sound while I am accelerating. It seems to be coming from under the hood but I can't pinpoint the exact location. What could be the cause of this and how can I fix it?

It is possible that the sound is coming from a loose or damaged belt in your engine. I would suggest checking the condition of all your belts and replacing any that are worn or damaged.
