Why is my BMW X1's engine making a clicking noise?

I recently noticed that my BMW X1's engine is making a clicking noise when I start the car and while driving. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

The clicking noise could indicate an issue with the valves or lifters in your engine. It's best to have a mechanic check it out to ensure there is no damage.

A worn or loose timing belt can also cause a clicking noise in the engine. It's important to have it replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
