I recently purchased a BMW X3 and have noticed that when I turn on the engine, there is a strange noise coming from under the hood. It sounds like a rattling or grinding noise. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It is possible that the noise is coming from a loose or worn-out belt. This can be easily fixed by tightening or replacing the belt.
