Hi Alexandra, have you recently experienced any issues with your coolant levels or noticed any leaks? This could be a possible cause for the high engine temperature. I recommend getting your coolant and coolant system checked by a mechanic to ensure it is functioning properly. Additionally, make sure to keep an eye on your temperature gauge while driving and pull over if the temperature continues to rise.

Hello Alexandra, another potential issue could be a malfunctioning thermostat. This can cause the engine to overheat because the thermostat is not properly regulating the engine's temperature. I suggest taking your car to a BMW dealership or trusted mechanic for a diagnostic check and potential replacement of the thermostat if needed.

Hi Alex, do you notice any strange noises or smells coming from the engine? It could be a sign of a faulty water pump, which can also lead to high engine temperatures. Take your car to a mechanic and have them inspect the water pump for any issues. If needed, have it replaced to prevent further damage to your engine.
