Why is my BMW X5 making a grinding noise when I turn the steering wheel?

I've noticed a grinding noise coming from my BMW X5 whenever I turn the steering wheel. It seems to be getting worse and I'm worried it could be a serious issue. What could be causing this and what should I do?

This could be caused by a few different things, but the most likely culprit is a worn out steering column bearing. It's important to get this checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible, as it can cause further damage if left untreated.

Another possible cause could be a loose power steering belt. Check the tension of the belt and make sure it's not slipping or worn out. If it is, it should be replaced.
