Why is my BMW X5 making a strange noise when accelerating?

I recently noticed that my BMW X5 is making a strange noise when I accelerate. It almost sounds like a whining noise. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

It's possible that the noise is coming from a faulty wheel bearing. Have a mechanic take a look and replace it if needed.

Another possibility is that your serpentine belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. This can cause a whining noise when accelerating. A mechanic can easily replace the belt for you.
