Why is my BMW XM emitting a strange noise when braking?

I recently noticed that my BMW XM is making a strange noise when I brake. It sounds like a high-pitched squeal and I'm worried something may be wrong with my brakes. Has anyone experienced this issue before? What could be causing it and how can it be resolved?

Hi Liam, brake noise is a common issue with BMW XMs. It could be caused by a number of factors such as worn out brake pads or a build-up of dirt and debris on the brake pads. I recommend bringing your car to a BMW dealership to have it inspected and if necessary, have the brake pads replaced.

Hey Liam, I had the same issue with my BMW XM and it turned out to be a loose brake caliper. I would recommend getting it checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible, as a loose caliper can be dangerous.

Hi Liam, I've also experienced this issue with my BMW XM. After doing some research, I found that it could be caused by a build-up of brake dust on the rotors. I suggest cleaning the brakes thoroughly with some brake cleaner. If the noise persists, it could be a sign of worn out brake pads.
