I recently noticed that my BMW XM is making a clicking noise whenever I turn on the engine. What could be causing this and is it something that I should be concerned about?

It is not uncommon for BMW XM engines to make a clicking noise upon starting. This is usually caused by a worn out starter or solenoid. It is important to get this checked and replaced if necessary to prevent any potential future issues.

Another cause of the clicking noise could be a faulty ignition switch. This can also lead to trouble starting the engine or the engine shutting off while driving. I would recommend getting this checked by a mechanic as soon as possible to avoid any potential safety hazards.

The clicking noise could also be coming from the fuel injectors. Over time, these can become clogged or dirty, causing them to make a tapping noise. This can usually be resolved by getting them cleaned or replaced.
