Why is my BMW Z4 making a high-pitched squealing noise when I start it?

When I start my BMW Z4, there is a loud high-pitched squealing noise that lasts for a few seconds before going away. This has been happening more frequently lately. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

This could be due to a worn or misaligned serpentine belt. It is important to get this checked and replaced if necessary as a worn belt can cause serious damage to your engine.

Another possibility could be a faulty belt tensioner or pulley. Have a mechanic inspect these components and replace them if needed.

B

Make sure to check your power steering fluid level as well. If it is low, it could also cause squealing noises. Top up the fluid if necessary.
