Why is the BMW iX3's electric range shorter than other electric cars?

I've been looking at various electric cars and noticed that the BMW iX3 has a shorter electric range compared to similar models. Is there a reason for this?

It's important to note that the BMW iX3 is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, meaning it also has a combustion engine. This means that the electric range will be shorter compared to a fully electric car. However, the iX3 still has a decent electric range of 285 miles, which should be more than enough for most daily commutes.

The iX3 uses a larger battery compared to other electric cars in its class, which allows for a shorter charging time. This means you can get back on the road faster and have less downtime waiting for the car to charge.

It's also worth noting that the iX3 is a luxury SUV, meaning it is heavier and less aerodynamic compared to smaller electric cars. This could also account for the shorter electric range.
