Why is the BMW M8's V8 engine more powerful than the V10 in the M6?

I'm considering purchasing a BMW M8, and I noticed that it has a V8 engine while the M6 has a V10. Why does the M8 have a more powerful engine despite having fewer cylinders? Will this have any impact on the car's performance?

The reason the BMW M8 has a more powerful V8 engine compared to the M6's V10 is due to advancements in engine technology. The M8's V8 is a newer, more efficient engine design that is able to produce more power while also being more fuel efficient.

The M8's V8 engine may have fewer cylinders, but it is equipped with twin-turbochargers. This allows for more air to be compressed and injected into the engine, resulting in higher power output.
