Why is the BMW X5 engine making a clicking noise?

I recently purchased a BMW X5 and I have noticed that the engine is making a clicking noise. It only happens when I initially start the car and then it goes away. Should I be concerned about this noise?

It's actually quite common for BMW X5 engines to make a clicking noise upon start up. This is usually due to the hydraulic valve lifters and can be a result of low oil pressure or dirty oil. I would suggest checking your oil levels and getting a routine oil change to see if that improves the sound.
