Why is the BMW X6's steering wheel shaking at high speeds?

I recently purchased a BMW X6 and noticed that the steering wheel starts shaking once I reach speeds above 60mph. It's not a major shake, but it is noticeable. What could be causing this? Is it a sign of a bigger issue?

It's possible that your wheels may need balancing. This is a common issue and can easily be fixed by taking your car to a tire shop. The shaking could also be caused by a worn out suspension component, such as a tie rod or ball joint. I would suggest having a mechanic check these components as well.

I've had the same issue with my BMW X6 and it turned out to be a problem with the steering rack. It needed to be replaced and the shaking went away. I would recommend bringing it to a BMW dealership for a proper diagnosis.

Before assuming it's a mechanical issue, try checking your tire pressure. Sometimes an imbalance in tire pressure can cause shaking. Also, make sure your wheels are properly aligned as this can also contribute to shaking at high speeds.
