I have a 2014 BMW 3 Series and recently noticed that the clutch pedal has become harder to push down. I suspect that the tension in the clutch cable needs to be adjusted, but I have never done it before. Can someone walk me through the steps to adjust the tension and how often should it be done? Thank you.
ReplyHi Samantha, adjusting the tension in your BMW's clutch cable is a fairly simple process. First, locate the adjustment nut on the cable, which is usually near the clutch lever. Use a wrench to loosen the nut and then turn the adjuster clockwise to tighten the tension. You want to adjust it until there is about an inch of free play in the clutch lever. As for how often it should be done, it's a good idea to check and adjust the tension every 10,000 miles or so. Hope this helps!
Hello Samantha, adjusting the tension in your BMW's clutch cable is important for maintaining smooth and responsive clutch operation. To do so, you'll need to first locate the adjuster screw on the clutch cable, which is usually near the engine end of the cable. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster screw clockwise to increase tension. You want to aim for about 1/4 inch of free play in the clutch lever. It's recommended to check and adjust the tension every 10,000 miles or once a year. Best of luck!
