I just bought a used BMW 5 Series and I'm not sure how to check the oil level. I know it's important to keep the oil level at the correct level for the engine to function properly. Can anyone give me some advice on how to do this?
ReplyTo check the oil level, park your BMW 5 Series on a level surface and wait for the engine to cool down. Locate the dipstick, pull it out, and wipe it clean with a cloth. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks. If it's below the minimum mark, add some oil. If it's above the maximum mark, have your car serviced.
Another way to check the oil level is to use the BMW iDrive system. Go to the main menu and select 'Vehicle information'. Then select 'Engine oil' and you'll see the current oil level. If it's below 75%, it's time to add some oil.
I recommend checking your oil level at least once a month, or more frequently if you drive often or have an older car. Keeping your oil level at the optimal level will prolong the life of your engine and help prevent costly repairs.
