I have recently purchased the BMW M8 and I want to make sure I am properly maintaining the carbon ceramic brakes. What is the best way to maintain them and how often should I do so?

Hi Sophia, congratulations on your new BMW M8! For carbon ceramic brakes, it is important to avoid harsh braking, especially during the first few thousand miles. This will help prevent the brakes from glazing over and losing performance. It is also recommended to gently brake at low speeds to warm up the brakes before driving aggressively. As for maintenance, it is recommended to have the brakes inspected and cleaned every 6 months or 6,000 miles by a trained technician. This will ensure that any build-up or wear is caught early and addressed before it causes any issues.

Hi Sophia, proper bedding-in of the carbon ceramic brakes is key to their longevity and performance. Make sure to follow the break-in period recommended by BMW and avoid sudden stops or aggressive braking during this time. Also, avoid using high-speed mechanical car washes as the abrasive materials used can damage the brake discs. Instead, hand wash the car and use a soft cloth to clean the brake discs. And don't forget to regularly check the brake fluid level and replace it every 2 years or 20,000 miles.
