I have a 2018 BMW 5 Series and the service light came on indicating that it's due for a service. I'm not due for a service yet, so I'm wondering how do I reset the service light on my BMW 5 Series?
ReplyHi Alex, to reset the service light on your BMW 5 Series, you can follow these steps:
1. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
2. Press and hold the brake pedal, while simultaneously pressing the odometer reset button twice.
3. Release the brake pedal and the odometer button, and then press the odometer button until the service interval indicator appears.
4. Press and hold the odometer button until the service displays "Reset?" then release.
5. Press and hold the odometer button again until the "Inspection" message appears.
6. Release the button and your service light should be reset.
Hey Alex, another way to reset the service light is to:
1. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
2. Press the trip odometer reset button in the instrument cluster and hold it pressed for 10 seconds.
3. Your service indicator will reset to 100%, your mileage and time to the next service will also be displayed.
4. Release the button and you're all set.
Hi Alex, if the above methods don't work, you can try:
1. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
2. Use the BC button on the turn signal stalk to scroll through the various indicators until the mileage is displayed.
3. Press and hold the BC button until the display changes to "Reset?".
4. Release the BC button and hold it down again until the service indicator resets.
