I am trying to decide between the 640i and 650i engines for my new BMW 6 Series. Aside from the obvious price difference, can someone explain the key differences in performance, fuel efficiency, and overall driving experience? Which engine would you recommend for someone who wants a balance between power and economy?
ReplyThe main difference between the 640i and 650i engines is their size and power. The 640i has a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine, while the 650i has a 4.4L V8. This means the 650i has more horsepower and overall performance. However, the 640i may be a better choice for fuel-conscious drivers and those who want a smoother, more balanced driving experience.
If you want a good balance of power and fuel efficiency, I would recommend the 640i engine. It still has plenty of power with 335 horsepower and can go from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Plus, it has a higher fuel efficiency rating compared to the 650i. But if you really want that extra kick of power and acceleration, go for the 650i.
I've owned both the 640i and 650i, and in my experience, the 650i is definitely more fun to drive. The V8 engine provides a noticeable increase in power, and the exhaust note sounds amazing. However, fuel economy is definitely a factor to consider, as the 640i is more efficient. It really depends on your personal preferences and how much you value performance over efficiency.
