What is the purpose of BMW's Active Steering technology?

I've been researching about the BMW X7 and came across the term Active Steering. What does it do and how does it benefit the driving experience?

Active Steering technology allows for variable steering ratios based on the speed and direction of the vehicle. It provides more precise and responsive steering, making driving at high speeds and maneuvering through tight spaces easier and safer.

I have been using a BMW X7 for the past year and the Active Steering feature has definitely improved my overall driving experience. It makes turns feel more natural and effortless, especially on longer drives.
