Why does my BMW M1's engine make a ticking noise?

I recently purchased a BMW M1 and I've noticed that the engine makes a ticking noise when idling. Is this normal or should I be concerned? What could be causing this noise?

It is normal for some BMW engines to make a ticking noise, especially when they have high mileage. However, it is always best to have a mechanic check it out to ensure there are no underlying issues. It could be a problem with the valve train or even a lack of lubrication in the engine.
